Infant CPR Anytime® Frequently Asked Questions Kit Contents/Material Q: What is Infant CPR Anytime? A: The Infant CPR Anytime Personal Learning Program was developed in coordination with the Infant CPR Anytime uses the AHA’s Practice-While-Watching technique to teach the skills of infant CPR. Users practice CPR and relief of choking on the Mini Baby™ personal manikin while watching CPR skills being taught and performed on a DVD. Q: Who is the target audience for the Infant CPR Anytime Personal Learning Program? A: Primary target audiences for the Infant CPR Anytime kit include family members, friends and community members who may encounter an infant in cardiac arrest:
Q: Is there research to show that this method of teaching CPR is effective? A: Yes, published research has shown that users of CPR Anytime performed CPR as well as students taking the 2005 (pre-Guidelines) version of the Heartsaver CPR course (assessed by recording manikin). CPR Anytime users also performed equally well when using the kit: on their own, with facilitation from a peer, or with facilitation from an AHA-certified BLS instructor. Q: What is the difference between Infant CPR Anytime and a traditional Infant CPR course? A: Both Infant CPR and classroom-based Family & Friends CPR (infant module) teach the “core skills” of CPR: recognizing the emergency, calling 911, breathing for the victim (ventilations), pushing on the chest (compressions), and relieving choking. The key difference is that Infant CPR Anytime teaches the core skills of CPR and relief of choking in just 22 minutes, and allows students to learn at their own pace and at a time of their convenience. The traditional program takes approximately 1½ hours and is conducted in a classroom-style setting. Q: Is Infant CPR Anytime a credentialed course? A: No, users of the Infant CPR Anytime kit will not receive a course completion card. Q: What is included in the Infant CPR Anytime kit? A: The kit contains the following materials:
Q: What skills are featured on the DVD? A: The DVD includes sections on pushing on the chest (compressions), giving breaths (ventilations), pushing on the chest and breathing together (CPR), checking for responsiveness, calling 911, and how to relieve choking in an infant. Q: Does the DVD include any additional information about AEDs? A: No, the Infant CPR Skills Practice DVD for the infant kit does not include information about AEDs because the AHA makes no recommendation for or against the use of AEDs on infants younger than 1 year of age. Q: Is the kit available in Spanish? A: Yes. The kit is bilingual English/Spanish. Q: Is the Mini Baby Manikin latex free? A: Yes. Q: Is the DVD closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired? A: Yes.
