The Columbus Heart Ball is the signature event for the American Heart Association in Columbus, Ohio. Through a new Heart Ball Cause structure, our goal is to create an innovative, mission-driven campaign to build awareness and passion around childhood wellness, and enhancing the Heart Ball fundraising by developing a year-round framework through targeted educational initiatives to build stronger partnerships within the central Ohio area.

2010 Young Researchers Reception: Diseases of the heart are America’s number one killer and stroke is the number three killer and a leading cause of permanent disability.  Since 1949, the American Heart Association has dedicated more than 3.1 billion dollars to research – including 160 million dollars last year alone.

The Young Researchers Reception will honor and pay tribute to the outstanding cardiovascular research that has taken place in central Ohio; and will highlight current association funded projects and the young researchers leading the way in new advances in cardiovascular breakthroughs.

The Researchers Reception will be held at The Ross Heart Hospital Auditorium at The Ohio State University Medical Center on April 21, 2010.

Kids at Heart Celebration Event: The Columbus Heart Ball is attended by Columbus’s top business leaders, doctors and philanthropists, and celebrates our yearlong effort of fighting heart disease and stroke in our community.  Our evening will celebrate our work and mission; our donors and volunteers; and — most importantly — the lives saved and improved because of everyone’s effort.  Guests are encouraged to remain kids at heart by participating in activities transcending all ages.  The evening will be complete with dinner, dancing, a thrilling live auction and a moment to honor the efforts of the American Heart Association in childhood wellness.

The Kids at Heart Celebration Event will be held at The Franklin Park Conservatory on May 22, 2010.

Go Healthy Columbus: The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation, is empowering youth to join the fight against childhood obesity and celebrate September’s Go Healthy Month at Go Healthy Columbus at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium – an event encouraging kids to go active for the day. Go Healthy Columbus is designed to inspire families to eat better, move more and wipe out American’s obesity epidemic.

Families and children in the central Ohio Community will have the opportunity to experience a fun day of learning about ways to make healthy life-style changes through increased physical activity and proper diet. Go Healthy Columbus features cooking demonstrations, activity challenges and character appearances.

Go Healthy Columbus will be held at The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on October 2, 2010.
